I don’t know why men feel the need to make me change for their own convenience.

Let me explain, myself.

Recently, a man that I believe is trying to court me said to me that African men like their girlfriends to cook as a way to assess if they are marriage material. That unwarranted comment, came after I acknowledge, the taste of the food one of our acquaintances made.

I said ‘believe’ because I know he’s courting me, (or trying to), but I refuse to acknowledge it.

So, I replied, ‘Sure, I hope you find the right one for you,’ and continued eating. He kept staring at me, so I added, ‘I don’t know how to cook.’ He looked flabbergasted. Still surprised, he asked, ‘Who’s going to marry you then?’ Amused, I laughed and said, ‘Obviously, not you.’ He looked so pissed.

I don’t understand why some men are so obsessed with the idea of women providing them with free labor.

Please understand that I don’t care whether you marry me or not. If I do get married, I want it to be a happy marriage. I have no intention of betraying who I am.

Plenty of humans in this world, hopefully I find mine and you find yours .
